Welcome to the blog. I'm Peter - I've been writing code professionally for over 16 years, and this is where I write about things I've learned, built, and occasionally broken along the way.

Every developer has a collection of moments that make for good stories. Mine include Kubernetes misconfigurations caught in staging, a LINQ query that cheerfully loaded an entire table into memory before anyone noticed in code review, a fork bomb that took down a dev Solaris server (cue the walk of shame to the server room), a "temporary" Docker server whose unrotated logs eventually filled the disk, and most recently, a misconfigured AI agent that helpfully responded to a deployment notification in a Slack channel I forgot I was in.

None of these made it anywhere near production - but they all taught me something worth writing down.

What to expect

  • Lessons learned and how to avoid repeating them
  • Technical write-ups on things that actually worked
  • Code snippets and examples (tested at least once)
  • Thoughts on developer tooling, infrastructure, and embedded Rust

No promises on a schedule. But when something interesting happens, you'll hear about it.
